ImageMacquarie Philharmonia brings professional, semi professional, amateur and student musicians from the Blue Mountains to Dubbo together annually to perform in Australia's Inland Symphony Orchestra.

The Macquarie Philharmonia has a strong focus on mentoring and peer-leadership, as professional and semi professional musicians assist and encourage amateur and student members of the Orchestra.

Playing in a pro-am touring Orchestra is a rare opportunity for regional musicians. Students and professionals alike relish the chance to work with fellow musicians, world-class soloists and conductors.

Orchestral musicians are determined by the program and touring schedule of the Macquarie Philharmonia on a yearly basis. In 2008 the Orchestra compriseD between 65 and 70 musicians, 2 soloists and 2 conductors for performances in Bathurst and Dubbo in July for the major season.

Musicians are required to be available for all rehearsals, sound checks and performances, as determined by the Musical Director and Performance Committee. Rehearsals take place up to three weeks in advance of the performance/s. Musicians are expected to be very familiar with the repertoire before attending reheasals.

The Macquarie Philharmonia also has a small Chamber Orchestra of up to 12 professional musicians. For the first time in 2008 the Macquarie Chamber Orchestra will perform in various wineries and other venues throughout the Central West.

If you would like to join the Orchestra as a musician, please contact Sarah Conolan for details.
