The Macquarie Philharmonia is proud to present their 2006 concert series, which this year celebrates the 250th birthday of Mozart. The program for the concert is diverse, with perhaps the most anticipated performance coming from local soprano Gabriel Bieniek. Gabriel will perform the 'Exsultate Jubilate' will the full orchestral accompaniment of the Macquarie Philharmonia. Both students and audiences alike are lucky ot ahve the opportunity to experience Gabriel's beautiful and skillful voice.
Gabriel is a Music Performance (Hons) gradute of the University of Wollongong, and has been a voice teacher at Mitchell Conservatorium since 2003. She is currently also the Musical Director of the children's choir Mitchell Young Voices, which she established in 2004 through the Mitchell Conservatorium.
Gabriel studied voice with Brenda Holleman and Karen Cummings at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and also undertook post-graduate Musicology studies at the same instituition. She ahs worked as a soloist with the Macquarie University Singers, SBS Youth Orchestra, Illawarra Choral Society, the Orange Conservatorium Choir and Orchestra and, most recently, with the Woollahra Philharmonic Orchestra. Her repertoire for these performances included works by Purcell, Vivaldi, Beethoven, Poulenc, Bach and Faure. Gabriel also sang as part of the Mitchell Conservatorium Spring Series Recital #2, performing Australian twentieth-century works.
The '250 Reasons...to Listen to Mozart' performance is a rare opportunity to hear Gabriel perform one of the world's most beautiful motets for soprano.
Performances will be held on Saturday, September 23 at BMEC and Sunday, September 24 at The Union Theatre Lithgow.
